i’m 1 week into training for hyrox and here’s how it’s going
i’m not a runner, i’ve always been more of a lifter so we’re starting easy. the goal is to attempt my first hyrox this september, but realistically i’m aiming for april next year.
right now i’m running 2km a day, 1km before my workout and 1km after. alongside that, my trainer has added a lot more endurance and grip work like farmers walks, dead hangs, lunges, burpees, wall balls.
i’m still keeping my regular strength training in.
over time, i want to build up to 4 to 5km runs outdoors and eventually 8km (so i can do the actual hyrox circuit)
i’ve never really run before, so this has been genuinely hard especially with smoker lungs. maybe this is my sign to quit.
first week wasn’t cute. my body crashed. suffered from cramps, my mind and body both wanted to give up, so much fatigue, all of it.
but i have been adjusting. i started creatine, increased my carbs intake, more sleep. this week already feels better than last week.
also dropped ~2kg in a week (running will do that lol), but i’m keeping an eye on not losing muscle. might even do a dexa scan soon so i can compare later.
overall, i picked this up because i wanted to challenge myself physically. seeing people i know online and irl do hyrox made me feel like i could too.
hopefully it goes well. will keep sharing the journey.
