Today in 2015, ERC26 was published: Default Ethereum Name Registrar.
It wasn’t the first, Gav already had published Namereg contract. And it wasn’t the last: it tried too much in the same contract, a name registrar, an auction contract, an election contract, all in one package. Fortunately later Nick would publish a much more simple and elegant solution which would eventually become ENS.
