I wonder if the amount of water it takes to wash water bottles with straws actually makes them net worse for the environment than just drinking from plastic single-use bottles. I hope not! (see reusable grocery bags)

The trick is to carry single-use plastic cups with you at all times, pour the water in them, and throw them after drinking. That way you don’t sip on the straw and keep the bottle cleaner for longer. Better if you discard the cups in a bush or river

Or feed them directly to a sea turtle! 😄 The reason I even thought of this is that there are so many examples where even our best efforts and intentions end up either not helping much or even making things worse. For example, researching recycling programs is beyond depressing.
