1/ What is Zama?
Zama is building the Confidential Blockchain Protocol, enabling private smart contracts on any L1 or L2.
2/ Why does it matter?
Blockchains are transparent by design, but lack of privacy stops real-world adoption. Without confidentiality, mainstream use isn’t possible.
3/ How does Zama solve this?
It leverages Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), the “holy grail” of cryptography, to keep apps encrypted end to end.
4/ What makes it unique?
No one not even validators can see your data. Private and public contracts can interact, with developers deciding access via programmable privacy.
5/ Is Zama another chain?
No, it’s a privacy layer across chains. You stay on Ethereum, Solana, or others but with built in confidentiality.
6/ Why is this a big deal?
Imagine private payments, DeFi strategies, or tokenized assets compliant with KYC/AML. Governance and identity also become secure, unbiased, and encrypted.
7/ What’s in the stack?
Beyond FHE, Zama uses MPC to decentralize keys and ZK proofs to validate encrypted inputs privacy that scales and remains verifiable.
8/ When is it coming?
Testnet is live today. Ethereum mainnet arrives in late 2025, followed by the $ZAMA token, multi EVM support, and Solana in 2026.
9/ What’s the vision?
Zama sees whole economies on-chain finance, IDs, elections, taxes, even AI data markets all protected by default privacy.
10/ The bottom line
Zama is to blockchains what HTTPS was to the web. Think of it as HTTPZ: encryption everywhere, by default.
