Reading Love at first sight by Wislawa Szymborska has been a breakthrough in my own path towards poetry and seeing meaning in the mundane. A fragment: "There were doorknobs and doorbells where one touch had covered another beforehand. Suitcases checked and standing side by side. One night, perhaps, the same dream, grown hazy by morning." Full poem: https://poets.org/poem/love-first-sight 73 $degen

And the rivers with the ocean, The winds of heaven mix for ever With a sweet emotion; Nothing in the world is single; All things by a law divine In one spirit meet and mingle. Why not I with thine?— See the mountains kiss high heaven And the waves clasp one another; No sister-flower would be forgiven If it disdained its brother; And the sunlight clasps the earth And the moonbeams kiss the sea: What is all this sweet work worth If thou kiss not me? Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost

OMG thank you for this opportunity and I love this because it especially makes me remember my late grandmother (Rip to her) .. she was always strong and resilient TITLE : ON AGING BY MAYA ANGELOU When you see me sitting quietly, Like a sack left on the shelf, Don’t think I need your chattering. I’m listening to myself. Hold! Stop! Don’t pity me! Hold! Stop your sympathy! Understanding if you got it, Otherwise I’ll do without it! When my bones are stiff and aching, And my feet won’t climb the stair, I will only ask one favor: Don’t bring me no rocking chair. When you see me walking, stumbling, Don’t study and get it wrong. ‘Cause tired don’t mean lazy And every goodbye ain’t gone. I’m the same person I was back then, A little less hair, a little less chin, A lot less lungs and much less wind. But ain’t I lucky I can still breathe in. 🥹🥹💔

"San Martino" di Giosuè Carducci. La nebbia agli irti colli piovigginando sale, e sotto il maestrale urla e biancheggia il mar; ma per le vie del borgo dal ribollir de’ tini va l’aspro odor de i vini l’anime a rallegrar. Gira su’ ceppi accesi lo spiedo scoppiettando: sta il cacciator fischiando su l’uscio a rimirar tra le rossastre nubi stormi d’uccelli neri, com’esuli pensieri, nel vespero migrar.

Temptation by Alice Pettway The blades of grass are writhing their torsos, sexualized unnecessarily. The people are uninterested in their undulations. But oh the stock market, thrusting its ample hips against expectation.

Fire and Ice By Robert Frost Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire But if it had to perish twice I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

I have my eyes on your way at the night time When shadows on the mountain are darkening And sadden the lovers of your sore heart I have my eyes on your way. At the night time when valleys sleep like a dead While hand of morning glories winding around junipers feet If you remember me or not I forget you not I have my eyes waiting on your way. Mr. Nobody BY Elizabeth Prentiss I know a funny little man, As quiet as a mouse, Who does the mischief that is done In everybody’s house! There’s no one ever sees his face, And yet we all agree That every plate we break was cracked By Mr. Nobody. ’Tis he who always tears out books, Who leaves the door ajar, He pulls the buttons from our shirts, And scatters pins afar; That squeaking door will always squeak, For prithee, don’t you see, We leave the oiling to be done By Mr. Nobody. He puts damp wood upon the fire That kettles cannot boil; His are the feet that bring in mud, And all the carpets soil. The papers always are mislaid; Who had them last, but he? There’s no one tosses them about But Mr. Nobody. The finger marks upon the door By none of us are made; We never leave the blinds unclosed, To let the curtains fade. The ink we never spill; the boots That lying round you see Are not our boots,—they all belong To Mr. Nobody.

If by Rudyard Kipling If you can keep your head when all about you     Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,     But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,     Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies, Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,     And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
