I'm glad the operation last night did not result in significant American casualties but there's significant questions to be answered: What will be the short and long term benefits to Maduro's capture? How many billions in resources did we dedicate to this operation? Was the cost and risk worth it? Do we want a President to have the unilateral authority to arrest heads of states without Congressional approval? What are the next steps here and why have the American people been kept in the dark about it all? Trump's statements this morning do not inspire confidence that this won't turn into a longer and more costly operation. Obligatory caveat: Maduro is a bad dude and was essentially acting as a dictator over Venezuela, I do not mourn his arrest in any way.
