"The Path Beneath"
No one remembers who first saw the Luminary.
Not with eyes, at least.
They say it came to the village during the Long Silence, when frost covered mirrors and prayers echoed hollow. A child wandered into the night, chasing warmth in a dream, and found not a figure, but a shimmer beneath the snow—a glow that pulsed gently with each step.
The path lit up as she walked, not upward or downward, but inward.
She returned at dawn, changed. Her voice was softer. Her eyes, full of sky. She spoke not of what she saw, but what she understood: that there is a path for each of us, lit only as we move forward in the dark.
No map marks where the Luminary passed.
No word captures its shape.
But afterward, others found their way again.
A potter shaped vessels that sang.
A mother’s lullaby calmed the winds.
A mason carved doors with no hinges—portals into who people were meant to be.
Each swore they saw a shimmer.
Not above them,
