It’s a macabre tale about war, trauma, sacrifice, devotion, and love laced with excruciating pain that leaves you devastated. One of the most brutal, beautiful, tragic, and heartbreaking story I’ve ever read that digs its teeth into your soul. I’m so blown away by the world-building and the complex themes surrounding religion and suppression, imploring you to question the morality of every character and every choice they make as they unravel. My mind stays in that world where Kaine and Helena existed, unable to let go the way they refused to let go of each other. There’s a gaping hole in my heart and I simply cannot move on.
