As a father of school-going kids, who are discovering the world of social media and anything else online, ensuring they are safe from harm has become a concern I think about a lot. Because I also do not want them to be completely cut off from everything. So we need to balance. And also find a way that strengthens their resillience in a world full of joy and learning, but also fraud and predators and radicalisation. I believe that in this moment in time, critical thinking skills can be a decisive factor for online safety. Learning how to deal with rumours, fake news, false promises, phishing and other attacks can certainly be a great tool. But how to help them? Inspired by the socratic bot made by @vrn.eth, that teaches us about biases, I created Fallacy Finder. A daily quiz questioin to help you learn how to spot fallacies. Give it a go.
