Just planted the last thing of the season, Butternut squash. A milestone as it has been a long planting season. I started in March with shallots. The climbing frame for the Butternut squash is recycled pruned plum tree (R) branches.

It's great to see someone else using plum tree prunings for structure--we do that all the time as well! They grow long, straight whips which make them so ideal.

Great ideas! I've used them as well to weave fencing around raised beds, to stop foxes from jumping into the raised beds! They're great of their pliable nature, you're right.

Then at the end of the season we have on bonfire to incinerate them, and turn the ash into the soil for next season.

Excellent! Yes exactly, straight, strong, but flexible. I also use them to weave a trellis for cucumbers and tomatoes in the greenhouse. Happy growing!
