clients want to win and avoid being dependent on the protocol.

all roads lead to winner take all.

what’s the point?

This is the inherent schizophrenia of crypto. 

A Delaware C-corp raises equity capital to build a user-facing app, while building an underlying protocol destined to one day welcome as many competitors as possible, and whose token will capture most of the liquid value.

Somehow the team must navigate the contradiction.

Uniswap's biggest competitors are..its own wallet partners that give it distribution. 

It's bizarre, and unlikely wouldn't be so acute without demented securities laws, but here we are.
