Sao thổ có hệ thống vành đai nổi tiếng nhất Hệ Mặt Trời, gồm 7 vành chính và hàng ngàn vành nhỏ. Các vành được tạo thành từ băng, đá và bụi – kích thước từ vài micromet đến hàng mét. Dù trông rất rộng và sáng, các vành đai lại rất mỏng – chỉ khoảng vài trăm mét bề dày.

Sao kim có đặc điểm quay ngược chiều kim đồng hồ (trái với hầu hết các hành tinh) Ngày Sao Kim (một vòng quay quanh trục) dài hơn cả năm Sao Kim (quỹ đạo quanh Mặt Trời) Vì quay rất chậm, buổi sáng và chiều trên Sao Kim kéo dài hàng tuần lễ.

Sao Hỏa có màu đỏ gọi là "Hành tinh Đỏ" vì bề mặt chứa nhiều oxit sắt (gỉ sắt).Bề mặt có dấu vết của sông, hồ và suối cổ xưa. Bão bụi có thể phủ kín cả hành tinh, kéo dài vài tuần đến vài tháng. có 2 mặt trăng nhỏ tên là Phobos và Deimos, nghĩa là "Sợ hãi" và "Kinh hoàng".
