What is a Decentralized Identity (DID)? >>A DID is a type of digital identifier that: Is created, owned, and controlled by the user. Is not dependent on a central authority (like Google or Facebook). Can be cryptographically verified via blockchain or other decentralized networks. >>How It Works DID Document: Every DID has an associated document that contains public keys, authentication methods, and service endpoints. Verifiable Credentials (VCs): Users can receive digitally signed credentials (e.g., a university diploma, driver’s license, or KYC approval) that they store in a personal digital wallet. Selective Disclosure: Users can choose which pieces of their identity to share, and with whom-reducing data exposure.

>>Benefits of DID Privacy: Your identity isn't stored on a centralized server vulnerable to breaches. Security: Protected via public-private key cryptography. Portability: Your identity moves with you across apps, platforms, and services. User Control: You decide what to share, and with whom. >>Real-World Use Cases Login systems: Login without usernames/passwords using your DID. Healthcare: Share medical history only with consent, and only relevant details. Education: Verify academic credentials without calling the university. Finance/KYC: Prove your identity to a bank without sharing excess personal data.
