That assumes the targeting is naive instead of sophisticated. That’s the flaw in this argument. Only way to grow in crypto is money. Various tactics, but there’s no non-money version that can scale. Believe me, I’ve tried for years.

Honestly don’t really buy toly’s premise. That you end up with farmers/low quality users depends completely on the way you target. Also - building for DAO treasuries sounds nice, but DAOs rarely have the ability or willingness to pay, and I think 0% of people who are willing to start an onchain treasury will accept bips on AUM. Bips on yield like Splits does is way more acceptable. Solana sure would benefit from more DAO tooling but I don’t think it’s the way forward for FC right now.

What if they don’t announce that the project has any tokens , then when they use it They give the airdrop That way it won’t get Farmed and the users would be authentic

My counter perspective: any airdrop will be farmed - it’s much harder to farm on SocialFi given its hard for bots to get engagement.

I think it's largely a cultural problem around airdrops. Farming is happening because of bad mechanisms used in the past. As targeting gets better and better it will slowly fade into a cultural routine of "best practices" to be eligible for most airdrops, and otherwise just ppl being more diligent about putting their behavior onchain to qualify for stuff they actually care about. But this will only happen as projects figure out what to actually airdrop: Marketing/loyalty tokens. We're still learning.

imo the airdrops just serve as a means of publicizing the project and should end at that, the rest is entirely up to the user
