grateful that I still have the budget to eat avocados abundantly; here are some buttons I am making from the seeds! after a couple of weeks of drying I will sand, oil, and seal with wax.

This one is pretty close to what I did. The key thing is cutting it along the natural seed split so that the buttons don’t have a break line in them. I just used a screwdriver for the hole because the seed is soft enough and I didn’t want to deal with a drill. I bought a carving knife specifically for this but a regular kitchen knife would work - the seed isn’t hard when it’s fresh.
