We’re planning to launch a new, optional “Pro” protocol subscription 1. At launch, subscribers will have a Pro badge on their profile 2. Subscription will be onchain and part of the protocol. 100% of the proceeds go to casters / developers in weekly rewards. This in addition to the existing $25K+ a week in rewards. 3. Planning to add longer casts (10K characters) and up to 4 images per cast for pro subscribers (needs a protocol change). Additional features over time. 4. $120 a year / $10 a month
Why are we doing this? - The protocol needs to find long-term revenue source that can continue fund caster and developer rewards beyond any one company.
 - We originally thought storage fees could be that, but we’ve realized that storage fees should be essentialy free to help growth.
 - So we’re trying an opt-in pro subscription as another model Why now? - Figuring out a long-term revenue model that works will allow us to double down on investing in growth

Excited to announce an airdrop of Monad testnet tokens! - 77K Farcaster accounts received an airdrop based on criteria like the number of verifications, casting and engagement - Monad testnet tokens will allow you to use mini apps on Monad - You can also send it to people on Farcaster, but you might want to keep some for some of the mini apps coming soon!

There are 3 business models for apps. 1. Free with ads 2. Subscription 3. Transaction fee The common thread for all three models is the user—a person, business or AI—has money to spend. That’s obvious for 2 and 3 since the model involves spending money directly with the app. But for 1, if your user base doesn’t have money to spend, the ability to monetize via ads will be low.

"You should build this feature" "You should make this small quality of life improvement" "You raised a bunch of money why can't you also X" Focus. Not claiming to be world-class at it. Varun is much better at focus than I am—I get distracted by shiny new things all the time. But ultimately you only have a fixed number of "shots on goal" before you lose momentum (and in other cases, funding). Have to constantly be asking yourself is this the highest priority thing we can work on? And if everything is high priority, then you're not focused. Good clip below on what world-class looks like here (note that Jony doesn't think he is good at it).

Reminder: there's also plenty of people who have lost huge amounts of crypto to *loss* rather than theft. Software bug, forgotten password, lost device, paper wallet burned down in LA fire, upgraded device without backing up data .... lots of ways for that to happen. Because there's no attacker to go after, victims don't have a strong need to talk about it. And often because they see no one to blame but themselves, victims will be too ashamed to talk about it. But it happens. Often. And the truly robust wallet security solutions that our ecosystem needs to build should take loss into account too. (This is a big part of why I talk about social recovery so much!)

Why Warplet matters 1. Most people don’t have a crypto wallet. 2. On Farcaster, without a wallet, you’re missing a key feature—earning money just by engaging. 3. But if everyone who signs up gets a wallet, money can flow seamlessly through rewards, tips, or airdrops. 4. This means more people with balances, which benefits developers building onchain frames. 5. And when someone taps a frame, they can act onchain instantly.
