Renewable stocks are getting hammered today in response to Republicans' proposed changes to energy tax credits in the reconciliation bill. But domestic solar manufacturers are taking off. The legislation proposes an excise tax on solar panels and wind turbines that rely on components from foreign entities, namely China. That's most of the industry. So Wall Street is betting on the few that are likely to see market share grow in the coming years.

So Republicans are basically saying: “If it’s green and foreign, tax it to death.” Meanwhile, Wall Street’s like: “Cool we’ll just bet on the local solar guys.” Climate policy by nationalism. Gotta love the free market, made in America™.
