So many Gigabrains here I was inspired to not only read but read non fiction. This book has been at the very top of my list for a while. Nice to get a sober history lesson on an issue that is massive and also muddied in the press, to say the least. Thanks Warpcasters and esp our reporter friends.

Another person in the thread suggested The Iron Cage. This book was not as hard to read as I thought but certain chapters were. It's A LOT of info but the main points are very clear.
