I do think that zohran is very charismatic and the type of leader that will win votes for the dems, basically a populist with mostly ineffective policy goals like trump.

that said, I’m not really sure how these folks get away with lying about taxes. top 1% of earners in NYC paid nearly half (~48%) of all personal income tax in 2021, so the solution is to tax them…?

zohran winning the mayoral race would be a very entertaining outcome because it would force the dems to pick a lane between going further left or retreating to the center.

feels like a “rubber meets the road” moment for socialist policies in america. if they actually work, dems become the party of AOC, ilhan, etc. if they don’t work, dems need to regroup and find a middle of the road direction.

Hilarious that most establishment dems would much rather lose and maintain neolib status vs pivoting to populist ideas that win elections (without getting into the debate of what’s best for the city by policies, etc)
