Should FarCon become a DAO? 

Security Council style board to decide where FarCon will be. Proposals to host FarCon should be transparent, with a public commenting period, ultimately letting a small trusted core to make the decision. 

Maybe also having smaller FarCons in smaller cities throughout the year?

Which, when you think about it, is just growing the brand and its identity. I would say that it has been effective in that regard.

I have more thoughts, but it would be helpful to know what your definition of effective might be.

imo nouns—even though i agree they are the *most* successful dao—moved the needle for eth/crypto/art/anything very little

and the price for a noun is a good proxy of people's interest (but obv a proxy for nft market too)

being a simple dao club? sure, a bunch of people get together and do stuff (except the governance attack lmao)

but you can achieve the same without daos

loss of control over the body (i.e. no centralized organizer) is what kills daos

*no* daos are agile, compare:
- centralized organizer sees something's wrong, need to change venue, makes calls, venue is changed, event is saved
- dao sees something's wrong, need to change venue, "proposal 135: venue change for the farcon happening tomorrow, please all vote"

I think what is appealing to many about the use of a DAO, in the instance of FarCon, is that everything is on-chain: the decision making, the finances, and the vision.

That said, at least with how I’ve seen DAOs, is remaining agile. 

If the DAO has agreed to hold an event in a specific location, and the location ends up following through due to unknown circumstances, is the Dow going to be able to rally enough interested members in order to move forward?
