Fun side story on why there's 10 different @automod accounts. When moderation switched to require likes on protocol it created a problem: you only get 2,500 likes per storage unit, after that its fair game for hubs to prune old reactions. Well, some channels like /lp are very high volume. They could do 30k casts in a single day which means others channel's likes would be dropped and no longer shown in Main. Thing is, even though @dwr.eth and @v alluded something like this might be necessary, I didn't fully process what they meant until about 8h before channels pivoted over. So I went with this: take all the high volume channels, about 5 or so, and dedicate separate accounts like @automod-ringo, @automod-davinci for them. That gives them 2,500 casts worth on their feed each, more than anyone would page through. Then take all the free accounts, beef up the storage and put them on the shared account @automod (its now got capacity for 500k likes, s/o caststorage . com). cont'd

Hey all, I’ve decided to sunset automod. Channels are changing and Automod needs to adapt to work well with the new design. I like the new direction for channels and think it makes the right trade offs but it requires major changes and a renewed commitment that don’t make sense for me at this point. Real quickly: - Automod will run until the changes go into effect. - All remaining subscription time will be refunded. - Automod is now open source with APIs to port moderation configurations. I’ve worked on automod nearly everyday for the past 7 months. I’m proud of it and thankful to everyone who gave it a shot. Thank you.

I hadn't used the Expo Router before because its API was not stable at the beginning. However, after experimenting with it recently, I found I can easily turn my app into a website. The downside is no server side rendering yet, the client bundle will be quite large.

Apple has terminated our developer account and now we cannot develop the Epic Games Store for iOS. This is a serious violation of the EU’s Digital Markets Act. We will continue to fight to get back on iOS!

thinking a bit about "aha moments" right now, consumer has unique challenges and attention spans are short my farcaster aha moment was getting a like and a reply from dan immediately after my first cast https://warpcast.com/vm/0x3c529c i think if i casted and nobody engaged i would've churned and went right back to twitter (can't remember now, but if you told me dan was the only person to like my first handful of casts i'd believe you) it's been a while since i've seen the warpcast onboarding flow and i'm sure it's changed a lot, but this might be interesting: 1) user signs up 2) during onboarding they get prompted to follow certain channels (maybe recommended by interests) 3) there's a CTA to make your first cast within one of those channels 4) channel leads make sure to thoughtfully engage with every new thoughtful cast in a channel (this is the important part)

Hard truth: most of the replies to this complaining about how channels aren’t in the protocol are just cope Channels not in the protocol? Build your own channels. Direct casts not in the protocol? Build your own direct casts. That’s what Warpcast did. What you’ll come to realize (after a bunch of wasted time and effort) is that channels are a product problem, not an engineering one Apps that only focus on one or a few channels don’t make sense, not enough of a wedge or retention mechanism, partially due to how early we still are but also people don’t want to download a separate app for each of their interests Apps that focus on all channels and encourage you to check them individually are too much work for the user (see Discord, Telegram, etc) so you end up back with an algo feed to surface the most interesting content in one place Building a social app is a retention (and GTM) problem for the most part, not a technical one — and it’s hard as fuck https://warpcast.com/zinger/0xa6906bb7
