Waking up after anesthesia fucks me up. Where does your soul go while you’re under?

I've only been under a very general anesthesia. I remember trying my hardest to stay awake as the drugs were burning my veins. The nurse started rubbing my veins to reduce the burning and sternly told me not to fight going to sleep.

I was an experimenter even with anesthesia. Mine was a very general sleep for a biopsy. I had no deep confusion when I woke up and appreciated the opportunity to experience an altered self in a protected medical setting.
