Today I noticed that almost every Vietnamese household has an altar. It turns out these are home or outdoor altars dedicated to worshipping guardian spirits — including ancestors, earth spirits (Thổ Địa), and gods of wealth (Thần Tài). In Vietnam, this is a very common practice, both in homes and in businesses.
