• Capture of Kiev. In 882, Oleg captured Smolensk and Lyubech with a large army, imprisoned his governors and marched to Kiev, where Askold and Dir reigned. He tricked them out of the city and killed them. Oleg liked Kiev, and he made it the capital of the Ancient Russian state.📜
