This is making my head hurt as someone on a ‘biodesign eng’ phd- are u implying biodesign is more human sculpted or is it a top down/bottom up reference or am i overthinking and it’s just vibes

Haha thought so! It meant intersection of art and biology for me before the programme and I think this programme probably uses it in an uncommon way as I know nobody on the course that would consider themselves a bio designer (Daniel Grushkin bdc vibe etc). I think of it as applying a more creative artistic approach to synbio now.

Yes BDC was my first thought too! Ty for sharing super interesting. Biodesign just sounds cooler and like the more aesthetic sister to synbio’s v literal take on engineering bio
