The Boeing 717 is a narrowbody regional commercial jet built until 2006. The need for a regional jet commercial aircraft niche is now filled by aircraft like Embraer's E-Jets and Airbus A220s, as well as Bombardier CRJs until they were also discontinued in 2020. The Boeing 717 is the last member of the DC-9 family of aircraft, and Delta Air Lines has long been the largest operator of that family of aircraft. According to data provided by Cirium, Delta is scheduled to operate 12,648 Boeing 717 flights, offering 1.4 million seats in June.
