What we know so far about the Diogo Jota incident from MARCA:

It happened around 10:30pm GMT last night in Zamora, Spain. He and his brother were in a Lamborghini driving through Spain to catch a ferry in Santander to England, and then drive from the south of England to Liverpool to begin preseason on Monday.

The reason he chose to go by road is because he recently had lung surgery and his doctor advised him not to fly. Actually, he has used this route so many times. 

It is believed that during an overtake, there was a tyre burst which led to the car crushing and summersaulting several times. It immediately caught fire, and witnesses had to call the authorities who arrived immediately.

However, the bodies were both burned beyond recognition. DNA tests had to be done to confirm it was Diogo and his brother. 

Rest in peace to an amazing player and his brother. We will never forget you. 🖤
