Parisians need their donuts. I’ve tried Boneshaker before, was pretty good. 

Surprised with the chains though.

imo, it's good but doesn't have that chewy texture i like because of their focus on using vegan ingredients

Iirc in the 2nd (~20min walk from where i normally stay), I come by frequently, also talked about my love for top end French beurre ;)

Not me that craves though, mostly has been the wife. Honestly theres so much other good food, and why not just visit a corner patisserie.

yea, boneshaker has 2 shops near sentier (2e) within 20 meters of each other - one for donuts, the other for cookies

and it's very fascinating to watch the french (or at least paris) consumer tastes finally start to globalize as the rest of the world seems to want to trend to local again 🤣

Good point - I think social media is a major driver for this sort of things. 

Most of the brasseries I eat at though all seem pretty local. But I guess I’ve been going to similar for ~20 years. 

Wife did wanna checkout some Emily in Paris stuff the first time she went. I’ve convinced her to prefer les deux magots instead for example ;) but I still see tourists trying to check out cafe de flore (which is frankly ok, it’s just my personal preference for the competitor)

honestly, i think for locals

tourists tend to come with the notion that they MUST consume local things in the time they're here, but locals have been consuming pretty much the same things for decades now 🤣

and with social media i think the curiosity for non local fare has grown so much that there's more demand now

Question about these tastes though - locals, or made for the tourists? 

For me, local seems to work most of the time because it’s so good there. But the wife occasionally has cravings if we’re there for long (so have a ramen place handy too, for example - sanukiya)
