A logo I designed for Duwamish Valley Safe Streets, a Seattle community organization advocating for safer streets and better walking and biking connections in the Duwamish Valley. I had a short two week deadline, so I had to move quickly. One of my favorite parts was the research behind the logo. The symbol is made from two S’s for Safe Streets, but the flowing shape also references a street and the Duwamish River. I found out that the Duwamish used to be a wide, meandering river with many bends and oxbows. Beginning in 1913, it was straightened and dredged for industrial development, transforming it into the much straighter waterway that exists today. I found that piece of local history especially interesting and loved finding a way to connect it to the identity.

This installation at AHHAA science centre in Estonia uses electromagnets under iron filings, so the patterns shift in sync with the music. Very cool and hypnotic to watch 👀
