DAOs are remixing only two different forms of Democracy: 

1) Everyone votes on everything. (Direct Democracy “DD”)

2) Voters elect someone else to vote on their behalf. ( Represntitive/Liquid Democracy “LD”)

Both have fundamental flaws.

What's the purpose/function of voting to you?

1000%.  Voting for candidates compresses what your vote means. The person elected or proxied on your behalf has to interpret why you voted for them. (Low effort, low signal)

Proposals are simple Yes/No, but require time and expertise to execute well. (High effort, high signal)

When I read the original post I thought you were going to reach for another voting mechanism to solve the problem, but it sounds like you're going for something else?
