If Web3 could fix just one flaw in global trade, what would it be?
For me it'll be 'Supply chain transparency'.
Why? Because without it, we’re building a trillion dollar system on guesswork.
Global trade is something built on paper trails and trust, but fraud, counterfeiting, delays, and data silos are everywhere.
No one truly knows where goods came from, the people who touched them before it gets to you and more importantly if the docs are even real.
This is not a niche problem.
A loss of $1.8 trillion is incurred annually to counterfeit goods [OECD].
More than 20% of supply chain data is unverifiable [WEF].
Ethical sourcing remains, at best an honor system.
Web3 changes all that.
How? Tokenized assets, together with digital twins, will enable you to track goods on-chain in real time. Smart contracts automate settlements when cargo hits checkpoints life should be easy. Immutable records prevent data tampering or forged documents (note: "immutable record" refers to how data is stored on the blockchain). 0 reply
