The whole point is that the prevailing wisdom says that all technological progress is good and anyone who disagrees is a Luddite

If this were said about anything else, original thinkers would sniff it out a mile away

Culture has value and is impacted by technology, we should have the courage and ability to judge that

Uber / Lyft = good technology 

TikTok / Instagram = bad technology

bad take imo. 

streaming companies can still make good movies without absurd budgets. Good Will Hunting was 10 mil budget and grossed hundreds of millions. 

uber/lyft are good for their purpose

instagram and tiktok are good for their purpose

social connection, entertainment, attention economy are all valid.

if you’re talking about the addictiveness and the effects on attention span then yes, valid point, but bad comparison between ride hailing and social media
