As I sat in the middle of the trail, surrounded by nothing but wind and trees, I thought about all the times I’ve tried to be somewhere else. But today, for a few quiet minutes, I didn’t want to be anywhere else. And that felt like a kind of freedom I’ve been chasing for years.
