On May 3, 2024, NounishProf and I were on stage at FarCon Venice with Farcaster founders Dan and Varun, when I had a chance to ask them a question that was personal to me ** "what is the date where the farcaster thesis will be tested where a farcaster celebrity gets deplatformed and has to go build their own client and successfully does that" I always thought of that thesis as a test for whether Farcaster was building something valuable, otherwise it really was just a Twitter clone for a small network of friendly people. Ironically, (and not to say we've reached the goal and everything is perfect) it feels like we've never been closer to seeing this thesis actually tested. The share of alt client usage has never been higher. It's sad to see a community fractured, but I'm glad people have choice and can vote with their feet (figuratively speaking, I guess we're voting with our fingertips and eyeballs since we're clicking and giving attention) ** if you want to jump to this part of the discussion, click to view the transcript, search for the word 'thesis' on the page, and then click the timestamp and the podcast will start playing from that moment https://www.gmfarcaster.com/episodes/ep100

In yoga this morning we discussed maps and compasses Both tell you where to go A map gives you detailed instructions, GPS tells you exactly which route to take, turn by turn A compass just points you in the direction. You will hit obstacles on the way. You will discover hidden treasure on the way. Letting a compass guide you is not an easier life. But it leads to a more rewarding one. My compass sits in my heart. I might use my brain to decide how to get past a certain roadblock that sits in front of me, but I always listen to my heart when choosing which general direction to face 🧭❤️
