The @word-a-day for today is altruism and I’m beyond annoyed that I can’t hear that word anymore without thinking about the effective altruism movement 🙄 I think of altruism the same way I think about compassion, based on teachings from the Dalai Lama. We should cultivate more altruism in our hearts. Full stop. Dont try to measure outcomes. Don’t do it to make the world better. Don’t try to be good at it. Don’t do it because someone told you it will come back to you.
