Tale as old as time? The only answer I have is with my own family. Can’t change the entire country, but I can choose to raise my kids in a way that makes me optimistic for their futures. Embrace change, struggle, hard work, individuality. I’ve written before about my goal of parenting is “independence over achievement”. Too many parents care only about achievement (my kid needs to excel, be in the top classes and star of the sports teams, and I need to make it happen - and it starts as early as preschool 😮 ) . they do all sorts of things to rob their kids of agency and confidence, by boosting them academically and athletically and socially without giving them opportunities to develop actual skills.
