I was first introduced to cupping for general muscle relaxation as part of acupuncture treatment in 2018. In the beginning of 2024 I used cupping as part of the recovery plan along with physical therapy and acupuncture for a labrum hip issue when I couldn't walk well. The theory of cupping healing through increasing blood flow is interesting because I remember when I tore my knee meniscus in 2014 the Dr. explained the determining factor on whether it would heal on it's own or not is how close the tear was to blood flow. Getting started - Working with a pro like an acupuncturist or physical therapist is good because they use high powered glass cups and you can ask questions - Clear silicone cups are great for home use since they aren't as powerful as glass' suction (You squeeze the top of the cup to place onto an area), you can see the area easily, and they're affordable on Amazon or most places

Cupping methods - Static: Cup placed in one location for a short period of time - Dynamic external: Cup is slowly moved around a location using massage oil or any type of lotion that works - Dynamic internal: Cup placed in one location for a short period of time while slowly moving that area with stretch and|or exercise - Flash: Cup placed briefly for a few seconds in each location I mostly use static when doing it myself and multitasking around the house. Dynamic external is nice when I make the time to massage an area. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftUHYDsoi94
