Mayorga coffee is $12 cheaper at Costco than directly on their store. Now I'm curious what local coffee beans they have in the Arlington Virginia Costco.

Unfortunately the /costco locally roasted Mayorga coffee beans are not great. They're not bad. However they seem darker than medium roast as I can taste some burnt flavor.

I brewed a small batch of Stumptown today to compare side by side and the Stumptown was completely smooth. I threw away the receipt and will still see if Costco accepts the return which they should since they have amazing customer service.

Stumptown (Left) has noticeably lighter color than Mayorga (Right).

Another good sign that coffee beans are fresh is when you slowly pour the water onto the grinds and see a bloom of creamy foam rising up.

I believe this is due to the gas from freshly roasted beans.

I estimate the Mayorga coffee beans are much better in their smaller batch bags that are fresher.
