right. we also feed corn to all farm animals (including farmed fish!) which is kinda insane but that's the cheapest/calorically dense feed. I also read somewhere (Food .inc?) that our fruit and veggies now have a small fraction of the nutrients they had in the 50s bc everyone is maximizing size at the expense of nutrients.
short term we have to be a lot more conscious w what we consume (not just food, but everything else really, including information).
but long term we need to build systems that align personal interest with the public interest. I write about this extensively both in these "longcasts" and in my book, The Abundance Economy (book.abundance.id). That is also the long term goal of /impact
