how much did Satoshi make from the paper itself tho? Probably nothing since its in the public domain. All the money came mining Bitcoin.. now what if Satoshi just wrote the paper but someone else built the protocol (and mined it)? Then he'd(?) make no money at all I agree that ideas, discoveries, etc *should* have value in the economy - but they currently don't bc they don't have exchange value. If we want people to be rewarded for things that have consensus value (but not exchange value) we need to built that mechanism
