if we don't work on fixing this we have no right to complain:
when you produce something for individuals, they can compensate you for the value your (consumer) good created for them
when you produce something for businesses, they can compensate you for the value your (commercial) good created for them
but when you produce something for a community, ecosystem or network, there's no effective way for them to compensate you for the value your (public) good created for them
even if most people prefer to create for the greater good, they canβt do so sustainably
instead they have to produce for narrow consumer or corporate interests β often at the expense of the greater good (thru negative externalities etc.)
this is unsustainable & self destructive β both to individuals and to the ecosystem
all that because there is no mechanism that effectively allows contributors to be compensated for the value they create for communities or ecosystems
this is what we need to fix!
