A while back now, but honestly had a superb time at the Cosmos Institute weekend. What stood out most was the seriousness of intent behind the whole thing — not just abstract discussion, but a real attempt to bridge philosophy and implementation. The focus on human flourishing, reason, decentralization, and autonomy doesn’t stay at the level of slogans; it comes through in the kinds of questions people are encouraged to ask and the kind of builders the community seems to attract. There’s something rare about a space that treats philosophical clarity and technical execution as mutually reinforcing rather than separate worlds. Cosmos seems to take that seriously — the idea that if AI systems are going to shape human life, then the values underneath them shouldn’t be accidental or implicit, but explicitly examined and translated into design. Grateful to have spent time in that mix of thinkers and builders working on what “human-centered” might actually mean in practice in the age of AI.
