Layer 2's don't just scale Ethereum blockspace - they also scale the use of ETH as programmable money and as a store of value. Scaling the network effect of ETH as an asset is critical to driving value to ETH and it is a much more important value driver than anything else.

Yes it’s funny to me how quickly those very same people who were complaining about ETH fees being hundreds of dollars for basic defi transactions are now proclaiming that ETH is dead and L2s are to blame because fees on L1 are too low. The mentality of the crowd is to never have any memory or any foresight. Things are exactly as they should be.
