This book has a special place in my heart because 1) it is incredibly good 2) it’s the first book that I read to my oldest boy that was radically age-inappropriate by conventional standards (he did a great job with it and we’ve never looked back)

it’s funny how all the other books in the series are super dry space politics books but then he re-captures the magic in ender’s shadow just to prove he can only to go on to make the rest of the shadow series similarly dry space politics books that’s how i remember them at least, when i was ~12
