As always the question to ask is, “cui bono?” (Who benefits?)

Without AI, there is no way to extend the existing paradigm (data-driven software). Losing that would cause a recession

So tech executives, financiers, politicians, and middle mgmt/ICs must play along. Apple missed out, so they’re calling sour grapes

Prediction:

Some people will persist in refusing to acknowledge that AI is actually reasoning, even when it demonstrably is, because it would force them to acknowledge that their little spark of consciousness is not special and unique in the universe.

Exactly. Weird things are driving toward left brain (speech-LLMs) and right brain (world model, knowledge graphs) rather organically.  AIs still seem perplexed by space and time, but that may be more about our own filters.

That little spark is in fact special, unique, and unrepeatable bu synthetic forms of life, moreof manmade.
