Basically, energy equals power. Countries that have a lot of it – like Russia or Saudi Arabia – are pretty influential. It fuels everything, from making stuff to moving things, and even keeping militaries strong. Energy resources are a huge deal, arguably a nation's biggest asset. It’s pretty straightforward, really.
