Jack Dorsey, the guy who co-founded Twitter and runs Block, came up with this messaging app called Bitchat. It’s a decentralized app that uses low-energy Bluetooth mesh networks (BLE) to let people chat securely and privately without needing the internet or a central server. It’s kinda inspired by those old-school IRC chats and is perfect for situations where the internet’s down or not safe, like during a crisis. Dorsey’s also said they’re gonna add Wi-Fi messaging to it down the road.
