We say we want a better internet through farcaster but we’re defaulting into the same attention traps as every other platform. Engagement as dopamine. Content as bait. People optimizing for reach, not value. The scariest part isn’t that Farcaster might fail. It’s that it will succeed just not in the way we hoped. A thriving network, filled with content, drained of meaning.

This hits hard and it’s the exact caution we need in the midst of all the hype. Farcaster can be different, but it won’t be by default. We have to actively resist the pull toward hollow engagement and cheap dopamine. The tools are neutral, it’s on us to shape the culture. The real threat isn’t failure, it’s success without soul. Let’s build with intention. Reward depth over noise. Value over virality. Otherwise, we’re not building a better internet, just repackaging the old one with nicer fonts.
