Lot of people joined the zk train without knowing what it truly entails most did it for hype, not the tech i read through the zk handbook so you don’t have to here’s a full breakdown of what zk really is, what problems it solves, and who’s building with it 🧵👇

Let’s start with what ZK is ? Zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) let you prove something is true without revealing the underlying data. Instead of sharing the actual info, you just show a proof that your data satisfies certain rules. This has huge potential for improving privacy, scalability, and how different blockchains work together.

How does ZK work? here’s the simplified version to make it easier for you to understand A prover runs a computation privately and generates a cryptographic proof. A verifier then checks that proof without rerunning the computation and without needing to trust the prover. The result? Fast, secure, and trustless verification.

what zk solves: — privacy: proving things without revealing them — scalability: verifying huge computations with tiny proofs — trustless bridging: verify cross-chain actions w/o bridges — secure automation: agents prove their actions match your intent

Here are a few protocols using ZK tech to power privacy 🔐 → @aztecnetwork: a zk rollup built for private DeFi → @zkemail: prove identity from email or socials without revealing the actual data → @noir_lang: a zk-native language for building private smart contracts And privacy? That’s just the beginning of what ZK can do.

For scalability 🚀 → @zksync: zk rollup using zkSNARKs and their custom prover, Boojum → @Starknet: general-purpose scaling with zkSTARKs → @Scroll_ZKP: zkEVM built to work seamlessly with existing Ethereum tools → @0xPolygon: advancing Plonky2 and zkEVM for faster proofs ZK means faster L2s, cheaper transactions, and less pressure on L1.
