I’ve realized that two ecosystems I was deeply involved in, Fantom and Farcaster, both served as experimental grounds. Many ideas pioneered there didn’t fully take off, but later flourished elsewhere and went mainstream. Fantom was once a DeFi paradise. In early 2022, Solidly pioneered the ve(3,3) model, later refined by Velodrome on Optimism and Aerodrome on Base into a major DEX model. Farcaster has a similar story. Degen tipping and Moxie were early forms of InfoFi, later taken mainstream on Twitter by Kaito. Clanker pioneered social token launches, which Bankr brought to Twitter and pushed further. Farcaster also experimented with social trading long before Fomo found success. Crypto moves fast, and timing matters as much as being right. You can see the right direction and still be too early. Without the right timing, liquidity, distribution, users, product, or market conditions, even a good idea may fail.
